Interesting read on this great lense, which currently i'm in the lookout for.

So ... Any D3 owners unloading one -- i have a 80-200 which was originaly designed for full frame..   lol.....

I wonder how the 80-200 compares to the 700-200 on FX... :?:

Thanks for the link. Looking at the well regarded Bjorn Rorslett reviews he gives the 70-200 f2.8 a rating of 5 on a DX camera and a rating of 4 on the D3
Bjorn Rorslett wrote:On the D3, however, issues occur with this lens. A certain amount of vignetting when the lens is set wide open is both to be expected and indeed readily visible... For landscapes at 200 mm, you need to stop down way too far to get the corners just barely acceptable, even to f/22 in some cases. I think the covering power of this slim design simply is not adequate for a good performance across the entire FX frame, at least towards the 200 mm setting.

Glad I don't have a D3 (yet)

i totally love the lens on the D3. It does have vignetting, but it's not an issue for me because I add even more in post... :)

No chance :) , been thinking of getting another 70-200 as this one's VR has died on me and I can't be without it for any extended period of time. I've also heard rumours of an updated 70-200 coming out.. so I'm all ears at the moment.

I've also been wondering about an updated version of the 70-200mm as there seems to be some out of stock issues with overseas vendors, particularly BH Photo. Perhaps at PMA at the end of this month we will find out more.

By the way, anyone heard anything about the Tamron 70-200 that's supposed to be hitting the shelves this month. Also interested in the 300mm 2.8 Tamron have announced.
