got a little script and fiddled with it to my tastes ... it adds a border, and reads select EXIF info from the image, embedding it into the image itself (with a little blurb about copyright.)

What do you think, do you think this stuffs an image, adds to an image? Any issues you can think of down track? (one concern i have is that if i do this to all my jpegs, and need to print, id obviously have to crop out the footer, which equates an an additonal jpeg save which equals further jpeg quality loss.) ... I dont keep RAW originals, unless it was for commercial work, which wouldnt have these stamps added anyway.

Darb, I like the border and your details, but wonder from your point who the end user or viewer of these images is? I enjoy the exif info, but would imagine it is meaningless to a casual viewer and take from their enjoyment of the image (sort of like technical writing in the corner)

a lot of technical viewers, but not always ... do you really thing it subtracts from a non technical vieweres enjoyment? The girlfriend reckons it looks great ... she wouldnt know what "aperture" means ... i think it adds a bit of a salubrious touch to it ... but im interested to hear more about the negative side of things you think it might have ?

Only meaning if it was displayed as a print it may take from it, that was why my question "who is the end viewer?". For web or technical work fine, if I was buying it at the local framing store I would prefer no exif info. If I was going to have an image on my wall, I don't want exif info. That is a test for many of my images I use, would I have this on my wall? I had just applied that to your border, but really it depends on where you think each image will end up.

nah if it were printed, i'd recrop the image (and do a few other things i do to my images before savign again, and sending off to the printer.)

Nice script tho. Your travel and landscapes pics always inspire me. That smoke grad ND filter's put to good use.

Why don't you save the jpeg after you've done all your editing but before the script as XYZ.jpg then run the script and save as XYZinfo.jpg or something like that, that way you have both copies and you can use them as you see fit, it also has the added bonus of an extra backup.
