Hi everyone,

Looking for printer to print A3 size prints. Any recommendations? Was looking at the Epson 2100.

A friend of mine has just bought the Cannon 9950 (?) It has nine colour cartridges and prints superb A3 images.

shutterbug, stick A3 in the search box - there has been a fair bit of discussion that you might find very useful. Birdy is quite the expert on quality printing, and he has any number of posts about it.

I think he is an Epson 2100 man too

oneputt, I'm a huge fan of Canon printers. My i965 is a corker (although only prints up to A4 of course).

The Epson 2100 is mostly praised every time our member Sheepie used it &printed out on A3 or super A3.
It's most beautiful of the A3 size print colour, so far I have seen!

I say go with one of the A3 Canons, whether its a lower model from the i6xxx series or a higher model from the i9xxx series. Excellent colour, excellent printers, and none of that fussy "I need a head clean everytime I print" that Epson likes to force out.

I never had this problem with my Epson 2100 cos I gave it a bath twice a day and steamed bath once a month

I have a R800 (prints to A4) and my friend has 2100.

Both are excellent printers - no trouble with inks or cleaning.

Detail is superb.

And that's my point.

Epson never lets it happen to their high-end printers, only their low-end ones, and as far as I'm concerned, a company doesn't get the right to short-change its customers just because they can't afford a low-end printer or don't need one.

All the low-end Canons I've ever used worked just as well as the high-end ones I've used. The Epsons, while I won't deny that with any A3 Epson printer you're probably looking an optimum performance, haven't shown me that they really care about both spectrums of the market and I no longer trust them when it comes to consumer printers.

Not only is the print quality superb but it's quick.

Yes, the Epson 2100 seems to be slow for A3 prints - 30-40mins per full page. They claim it's due to the pigment thingy in the ink needing to try, and they deliberately slow down the printheads so the ink dries in time.

The Canon A3 sized printer I remember seeing at the Photo Imaging exhibition in 2004 spat out an A3 page in perhaps 10-15 minutes, all the while the dude was talking about this and that.

I have a Canon i9950. I am very pleased with it. I think that, printing A4 size, it uses less ink than the i950. I now use the i950 as a dedicated B & W printer using Lyson Quad ink cartridges.

I'm sure it is mostly the printer Birddog - to print something that size is a real joy, and I thank you for the opportunity

Epson 2100 is generally agreed to be the best A3 printer. Yes, it is slow. But yes...the images are excellent. Shop around for the best price.
