Hi Folks!
I was wandering around the Opera house today and noticed these 2 choppers circling around. I thought they were news crews covering the Danish Royals who are currently in town so I grabbed a couple of shots with some long reach glass. Imagine my suprise when I opened these in PS and zoomed in. This is serious protection! 1 each side.

Chopper 1 ID is protected. (You never know what else he does on the force).

Chopper 2 note the thermal imaging gear on the front and the sunlight on the rear.

You are lucky he didn't think you were shooting him...

Oh - wait - you were shooting him! With a camera just as well!

Great grabs but I would not have worried about his ID at all.

If these people do not want to be seen they would cover their faces, as the SAS does!

The chopper was fairly high. I don't think they anticipated that someone on the ground could pull up an ID.

I too saw these guys flying over as i was heading home from work. That first one was very bloody noisey and disturbed the serene pleasentness of Garden Island Dockyard. I couldn't even hear the gentle 'tap tap' of hammering, the blissful hiss of high pressure air or the cursive gestures of the italian welder shouting obscenities at his assistant, when the helicopter was overhead.

:)

If that Italian could have seen what was in the chopper then he may not have cursed so loud?

Judging by the size, shape and curvature of the magazine of the weapon shown in chopper1, it looks like an M16... Perhaps not the most accurate weapon but it would do the job

These guys don't muck around.......

Good shot, I like the first one. Wonder how they could steady & aim their guns with all the copter vibration though :!:

They all got their harnesses and safety belts around their body same as their weapons.

I could be wrong but I don't think it's the M16?

To me judging by the stock it looks more like the Colt M4 Carbine. Plus it looks like it's got a scope / sight of somesort. If I had a higher resolution picture I could tell.

I doubt countries such as Australia would use the M16 as it's not in production (afaik) anymore. Whereas the Colt M4 Carbine and Commando are still produced for the US Marines and US Law Enforcement.

I would say that you are 100% correct. M4A1 to be precise.

John dec

you would be surprised at how accurate it can be. it is a common weapon used by our SF for areial sniper work.

I thought the M4A1 was fitted with the M203 grenade launcher.
Just seen a few photos of the M4 and M4A1 and everytime I've seen the A1 it has the launcher.

Then again Counterstrike doesn't have the M203 on it.
But that's a game and not real life. :)

I stand corrected. When I posted earlier it was from a little laptop and I zoomed the pic with Windoze Picture Viewer. Having a look through PS on my big monitor, the stock appears to be an M4. At a glance they are similar :?

Maybe they were testing their ability to spot photographers from a distance so they can send the thought police after them.

We know where you live
