I know Momento is close to home for many of you - but I was looking for suggestions for a photobook company that ships to the USA. I've used Picaboo and Blurb, both are OK but lack flexibility in the layouts of photos and text. Fotofusion by LumaPix http://www.lumapix.com/ looks very cool but seems like finding an inexpensive (consumer price range) print shop for everyday causal books would be a hassle. Anyhow - whatta folks use for everyday stuff?

Have you tired the HP "snapfish" service - http://www.snapfish.com.

We had a few books printed (when they were essentially giving them away for free as a trial) and were quite please with the quality. I'm not sure how their pricing compares with any of the other printing services.

I got a free Snapfish book a while ago. Maybe cause it was free but I was not impressed at all by the quality and the cover was tacky with the cutout in the middle.Printing seemed to be by a laser printer or similar.


Take a stroll down to your local Target they have a display book that I was impressed with. They also allow you to get the book delivered to the target store and pay there. Go online and download the software.

Other people have also expressed their like for BLURB books also, great quality at a good price.

Ive used both Snapfish and Momento and must say that I was disappointed with Snapfish (although I do too ordered when they were practically free). However I made a Momento album for my brothers wedding, and even though i can only access basic options as a general consumer, I was very very impressed.

Harvey Norman also offer Photobooks

I've looked into these options, I'm just surprised that it is seemingly impossible to find a solution that will allow the user to do something as mundane as place a text box wherever on the page layout they choose - am I asking too much here? (:

I've used http://www.blurb.com and they seem to be very good, priced competitively reliable.

Asuka books are great... I highly recommend them as the quality is just yummy.. !!

I Was pretty happy with my asukabooks but I just jumped over to a new company which provide thicker pages and gutterless spreads

Better print quality in my opinion and the binding and pages feel like better quality!They are sort of the deluxe coffebook album.

Just curious with delivery times, but how long did it take from you submitting it to it arriving? I'm thinking of using Blurb, but I need the book before the end of the month for a gift.

I've used Blurb, and from memory it took about 2 weeks from upload to arrival at my door. So you would be pushing it to get it back by the end of the month. I think you can pay extra for quicker delivery, but I'm not sure that you could guarantee to have it in your hands in 15 days. Maybe you'd be better off trying something local (and higher cost) for this time and blurb when you have more time.

Hmm 2 weeks... if I finish all the layouts tonight I might be able to make it... luckily the end of the month lies within the week so hopefully I'll get it before then if I pick a faster shipping method.

The Blurb books look so cool (of the ones I've seen on Flickr and on the Blurb site). If anyone has photos of books made by local Aussies please link them up, cheers!

Not sure if anyone has already mentioned it already but momento have a momento pro range as well. They sent me samples of the covers and the paper and it looks pretty good.

Also, photojunciton is great software to look at.

Hmmm...one day I will get around to designing and printing a book!

How much difference is there between the momento books and the momento pro books? Image quality? Paper thickness? Thanks ...

Blurb can handle any layout you come up with.

I do my books in InDesign, converting each page into an image file that I import into BookSmart (Blurb's authoring app). It would be nicer if I could do it all in one app, but it's not too hard to achieve any layout you want.

I'm glad this has been covered, because I'm looking at getting some books done soon. A few of the places i've seen have been pretty pricey, which i can justify if the product is good, but I'm a bit cautious until i've seen a final product.

Is there a way to see these books without buying one to test?
