Re: Paparazzi's new toyWhat if you dont get a 7.62mm but a .50 cal? It is a favourite of some snipers!!

Re: Paparazzi's new toy
Nah, .50 has the potential to cause collateral damage on a through and through. 7.62mm at range not so much dependent on bullet type. Either way you're going to wish you hadn't thrown that thing
Re: Paparazzi's new toythat is a good point. Imagine that *BANG* (bullet goes through the target and then through another 2 people) *aww damn!*

Re: Paparazzi's new toyOff Topic->
Yes, .50 cal is overkill (no pun intended) for law enforcement. 7.62mm or .308 inch generally does the job. The .50 cal sniper rifle, although employed in the anti-personel role, was developed to be an anti-material rifle, such as lightly amoured trucks, jeeps, helicopters etc etc. Sort of makes people explode. Smaller calibres used in military applications also increase the chances of a serious wound, not killing the victim, thus more resources need to be utilised to recover them. That is also a reason why most armed forces use a 5.56mm round, rather than the heavier hitting 7.62mm. Of course, you also get the added bonus of being able to carry more ammunition, as the 5.56mm round is lighter. Sorry for being a nerd on this subject.... Re: Paparazzi's new toy
I'll happily nerd with you The other added advantage of the 5,56mm round is control. A fully auto 7.62mm weapon is incredibly hard to control. That is why the majority of 7.62mm auto weapons are used in the GPMG role (M60, MAG58, MG3 to name a couple). 5.56mm, by virtue of it's reduced calibre and corresponding powder weight provides much more control when used in the full auto setting (M16, F88 Steyr). The unfortunate thing is that it becomes logistically difficult to supply both 7.62mm and 5.56mm and as a result some MG's are now 5.56mm which reduces ones ability to put effective harrassing fire out to any real distance.
