From the manual:

Basic Remote Camera Setup
1. Connect a Plus II Transceiver’s CAMERA / FLASH port to the motor drive port of the camera using a PocketWizard motor drive cable.

2. Make sure the Plus II Transceiver and the hand-held PocketWizard are set to the same channel and turned on.

3. Press the TEST button on the hand-held PocketWizard to trigger the remote camera.

The cable info you need is available from their site. It doesn't mention the D2x but has the D2xs which I'm guessing will be the same.

you need a pocketwizard N90M3-P cable. The end P means its pre-release so the camera is always ready to fire (like having the shutter release half-way down) - so the camera doesnt go to sleep - although it does eat the camera's battery faster

ebay N90M3-P for cheaper versions from HK. (about $25 shipped vs $140 odd for PW brand)

I got one working for my 5D and it works perfect! I can also trigger interval exposures (certain # exposures with certain time) with the multimax.

ie. for my wedding photography I could set it up in the back of a church and have it fire off every say 15 seconds without me doing anything to it :D
