Andrew,

This message is fine. I was asked for permission to be given for this post to be made.

Where there's a benefit for members here, giving that sort of permission is never at issue, provided it's done in advance.

Cheers.

Fair enough. I had seen the same link posted by the same user on previous occasions only see it vanish within a few hours (if not sooner).

Obviously they know what they are posting about.
Often an (incorrect) assumption is made that other forum members will know what some cryptic title really means.

But cryptic is often in the eyes of the beholder. I'm not sure how anyone could enforce such a requirement. Yes, I might not understand what the poster is on about, but I may just be a little bit thick too.

Or simply not on the same wavelength.

I think that one of the good things we have here is that most of our members are intelligent and have some degree of lateral thinking capabilities; this in turn permits the use of thread titles that engage the use of double entendres from time to time, and that is not something that I'd wish to discourage.

I'll take this up with the mods, but I'm not entirely confident that we can come up with a way to enforce this. We shall see.

Thanx for the feedback.

My thoughts are that a title has the power to entice a person to engage in looking at a thread that might not otherwise be of interest.

Chris,

Yes, but is that a good, or a bad, thing?

One might say that it is both, of course, and where does that leave us within the context of Adam's suggestion?

What is meaningful to one person can be meaningless to another.
