Sigma 50 - 150 f2.8 EX DC HSM

Postby stevo on Mon Aug 18, 2008 6:35 pm

G'day all.

I'm lookin at a

Sigma APO 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM

Has anyone used this lense on a late model Canon... eg 40D ????

I've done the usual wander around the net and have found a few reported issues with earlier Canons and some hit and miss quality issues with both Nikon and Canon mounts, so I'd like some actual hands on feedback not "netsperts".

It would ideally tick a lot of the boxes for me at this point

Small / light / unobtrusive ..
f2.8
focal length length ideal
67mm filter size
cheap

You are aware it only suits the crop sensors (DX) :?:

Thanks Who..

Yeah, I'm only lookin at using it on my 40D at at his stage...

The blurb I've been able to find says it's designed specificaly for the cropped sensors and as such is a physically smaller lens than one designed for a full size sensor/ 35mm.

I'm not sure if the better AF sensors in the newer Canons that are supposed to come in at a 2.8 or faster lens may work better with it... I've found a few guys that have had problems with 350D's.

My learnin curve with this new camera and digital is a bit steep at the moment..
