Interesting look at the guts of a modern DSLRD3 + what looks like a 14-24 Nikkor sliced in half.
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read. ... angemode=1 The strange thing that I gained from that? I'm not buying a BlackRapid r-strap anymore! The tripod threading doesn't look strong enough to support the weight of a D3 + lens upside down. Ben D3 | D300

That threaded insert which has a substantial flange against the thick alloy base looks pretty bloody strong to me! ![]() Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
Re: Interesting look at the guts of a modern DSLRI use the BlackRapid with both the D300 and D2Hs, but they are not screwed into the camera base per se. I have L-brackets on both cameras and this is what the BlackStrap screws into.

Very interesting... thanks for the idea! I shall investigate. Ben D3 | D300
Re: Interesting look at the guts of a modern DSLRWhat does that BlackRapid strap do? I had a search and the strap looks strange to me...

Re: Interesting look at the guts of a modern DSLRIt's basically a strap with a sliding hook (attached to the camera's tripod mount) that allows quicker access to a 2nd body. At the moment, I'm using a thick neoprene strap for my 2nd body, but I find the strap gripping to my shirt too much when I try to swing the 2nd body around to use.
