Frog Rescue...... Help please !!!Hi all
This little fellow appeared on the floor of my loo this AM and it seems he came out of the toilet. Yeah, I know, I should put the lid down, but I live alone and don't have anyone to nag me. I live in an old house and I'm sure some of the rainwater finds it's way into the sewer system. I often get serenaded by frogs in the bathroom drain and I hear them in the downpipes when rain is around. This little fellow (?) is about 35mm long. The only frogs I've seen in my yard are rather large green frogs, probably in excess of 80mm long. OK, what should I do with it. I'm guessing the garden, if so where? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Kevin
Re: Frog Rescue...... Help please !!!Kevin,
Looks like a bleating tree frog, Litoria dentata, to me. They get their name because their call does sound like a bleating lamb - and it is very loud if you are close. Find a cool, shaded place in your garden and let it go. It will be fine. Make sure your hands are clean and free of oil or soap if you pick it up with your hands.
Re: Frog Rescue...... Help please !!!Thanks for the info Andrew. I think you've picked it in one!
I googled the botanical name and downloaded the audio of its call. Boy, this species is in no danger of extinction in my town. In the evening their crescendo is almost deafening, their preferred habitat being Silky Oak trees. I will carefully relocate it to a cool, shady spot in the yard. Cheers Kevin
Re: Frog Rescue...... Help please !!! lucky you found him on the floor - there is nothing less that settling down on the throne and having the shock of a small cold and slightly slimey body hitting you unceremoniously in the butt LOL

Know the feeling. Had that experience at the resort in Fitzroy Crossing a few years back. Very disconcerting. Cheers trublubiker PS: The Bleating Tree Frog is now relocated in the back yard, happily I hope.
