I was thinking that it could be very cool to hire a house boat on the Hawkesbery River in Sydney and have a week end 'meet' on the house boat. What do ppl think?

Scott, I got out of Geoff's idea that it wasn't perhaps for next weekend, but a possibly future weekend... or is your statement set for every one of your weekends?

Geoff,
What can we shoot on the houseboat?, inside the houseboat, it's very ordinary stuffs, apart from it, crusing along the Hawkerbury river in winter, not much thing you can see. Summer is also not so good.
The houseboat is only good for relaxing couple like you and Bel with no disturbing, gathering a group of 10 or 20 or 30 (including family members) there might be problems, no room to move on the houseboat with 10 people, especially doing photoworks.
Maybe charter a deep sea fishing boat! let all the guy with fishing skill to play with the fishing gears and we enjoy the catch of the day.
Make an overnight trip to the North or South Coast, could be good ideal instead of.

Birdy - there's a lot of scenic stuff that can be shot from a houseboat - not necessarily ON the houseboat but the Hawkesbery River is beautiful. I agree that winter is not an ideal time but maybe it's something we can think of towards Spring? I agree that we won't be able to have a large no. of ppl on the boat. It was just an idea, and yes we'd have to restrict the no. of ppl to say 10-ish (depending on the size of the boat). I wouldn't be prepared to take my photographic gear on a deep sea fishing adventure a s I've been on one before, heavy seas, lots of spray - not good for cameron or charlette. Just my thoughts.

Geoff,
You have to think of these events, we usually take our family along, first for fun, secondly: people has been working all week and week-end is the only time they can share with their family, third: make the family emerging into our activities so we'll get support from all the wifes and their sibblings for "lust", it's also create more social senses in our ordinary life too.
If we distance our family to our hobbies or activities, then it's not a real enjoyful meet.
To get the families on these houseboats, it's difficult, we have been there and on one of those houseboats, cruised along Hawkerbury river in a boat with the size for 10-15 people, my family of 5 saw it as not enough room, apart from it, the onboard amenities is awful! not well comfy for 10 or 15 people overnight, they don't hire the houseboat by day only, normally 24 hour same as hotel or motel, I don't know if they had change their policy now.
Deep sea fishing is another venture for our photogs, all sea spray or whatsoever we can have enough thing to protect our gears, on the big boat and day trip, the crew they know when and where to go, we don't have to worry much about the itineray, there's a big pleasure for all same as the harbour cruise dinner if we can make one at of one weekend, just my thoughts.
