Using E2 sensor fluid on a non ITO sensor

Hey all,

I have a D300 (needs E2 fluid) and a S5 Pro (Photosolutions website recommends Eclipse) and have read that E2 an substitute normal Eclipse. Is this true? It seems logical. I just want to be sure before I go out and buy a bottle of Eclipse as well.

Cheers
Cameron

Um... I think he already knew this from the manufacturer's website. What he's asking is if E2 CAN be used on the s5 Pro even though Eclipse is recommended.

Cameron,

I don't know the answer to the question, but I would assume that E2 would be OK. It is my understanding that E2 was designed because normal Eclipse would damage Tin Oxide sensors. It seems logical that E2 would be "less damaging" to non Tin Oxide sensors. Of course, I wouldn't recommend you go on my assumptions.

Why not email Photosol and ask them and also check if the guarantee still stands?

As we have a D70s and a D200 in the house, I really should have both E2 and Eclipse, but being a cheapskate, I only have E2. So far my D200 hasn't fallen apart. Nor has the sensor clouded over. From what I have read, the E2 is "gentler", whatever that means in this context, and shouldn't be a problem, but I too would be interested in a definitive answer to the question.

Problem is; can you trust an answer of "you must use the correct solution" from the suppliers, given that this would mean they sell more product? On the other hand, I would trust an answer of "If in doubt use E2" as that would mean reduced sales. Paradoxically, I would be more likely to buy an extra bottle in that case as I would want to support an honest supplier. :?

THanks for the replies, I am emailing PhotoSol now to see what they say.

I got a reply to my email!

You are correct. E2 will work on all cameras.

From the email reply I got from PhotoSol, just use E2 for all of them!

This is probably what Big Red saw:
Note: E2™ may be used with conventional CMOS / CCD sensors.

Cameron & anyone else who needs Eclipse fluid.. i've got nearly a whole bottle left. its hardly used and im struggling to find a use for it. its hardly effective for cleaning CPU/GPU's so its just sitting on my shelf.

anyone who needs it is welcome to have it, i guess it could be a bottle that can be passed around as need arises?

I still have not cracked open my bottle of E2, or even knocked the edges off that spatula that Matt made for me (thanks Matt K.) I think one bottle of E2 will last a long time, so yeah as above, anyone in my area who needs a few drops then let me know.
