Sandisk CF Rebates. Why none in Oz?

Don't know if this has been discussed before but how come we don't get something similar here as the US? I mean Sandisk has some pretty sweet rebates over there and I wouldn't mind getting a bit of that action. Eg the more CF cards you purchase the greater the cash back. Or somewhere along the lines.

I just bought a brand new SD Extreme III 20Mb/Sec SD card 8Gb for about $60 shipped from the states on ebay. The guy had bought heaps of them, cut off the barcode and got the rebate back and then put them on ebay.

I certainly agree that we are missing out in Australia and it is frustrating but maybe looking at ebay US may be an option to get some discount

Because to most manufacturers we are a hick country with no market. We buy goods without the rebates so why would they give them to us?

Rebate is one thing, fair price is another. I recently bought a 16 GB EXIII from ECS (where I also bought my 24PC) for $220.00 ( a $10 dollar discount on their normal price...), a few day later at Dick Smith Powerhouse I bought one identical card for $170.00. That is quite a rebate in itself :D . A mate of mine bought 2 8GB XIII for a little less than what I paid for the 16GB but he returned them as they were fake
