Well hiya All, I need a break been busy working since 6am this morning till 5pm and then come home and sit here at my computer and have a read of what i missed during the day and well have only now decided to have a break. Came home to emails and orders so i have been sitting here processing orders from the weekends photo shoot at the track.
I have decided as this is a once off weekend and will never see these riders again i will sell myself short on having photos printed and offered them a special deal if they wanted for files on a cd at a set price. I will sell them all the pics i have of them on a cd as i think faster turnover and easier in some ways, but potential to make $300 + for the 4 hours i was there, a bit more attractive in some cases for the general rider off the street.
Ok well time to kick back and see what i have missed today.
Cheers
John

Catcha, i well make money out of my hobby, didn't start of this way but found a market that i love going to and shooting and some of my shots a few people looked and liked and now buy all my shots. I attend the track on all ride days as no one eles bothers, and so i am the only one to do this as pro who i know in Adelaide only attends major race days and last time he was down i still made like $400 for the weekend, so yeh it helps to go towards some gear. I just have people wanting to buy my photos.
So hobby and a few bucks along the way helps, and well anyone can do this as i was at airport oneday trying my new lens 80-400 VR and a plane flew in that i took pics of and was approached by the pilot to take some for him and off him as it was a new plane. he liked the photo's so much and he happens to be a mangaing director of a group of insurance companies, and rang me to cover the opening for there new office, so luck is the name of the game and anyone can do it.
Hope this sort of helps and answers your question.
Cheers

Wow that is so cool, hmm If only I was that good hehehe, so how long did it take you to get to the point where people were wanting to buy photo's off you?
It's like an addiction, I use to spend heaps of money on my car jumping on forums and seeing what others do and how they make there cars go faster. meet up go on cruises etc.
now I can see you and birddog, and every other memeber to get that lust of lenses and I can see why now

The lust with no ending is a big part of the problems which many photogs have never seen it before venture into this winding road.

Yep thats the same lust with my cars back then, owning a WRX was not cheap and the quest to make it faster and get those 1/4 times down.
Now married not the excuse I sold the car, but temporary for now I think I have found my new hobby, always wanted to be a photographer back then in the younger years, but it is either a make or break situation. Shooting calendar girls would be a great profession or motosport

Catcher, It wasn't long before i started selling them and was using a Fuji S7000 as i could not afford the D70 at first.
I wouldn't say i was good or a pro, there are others here on the forum that when isee there pics i go WOW,and well they are better than me as maybe i dont put the effort into some of the stuff i see others do.
But i think some of my bike shots are very good, and well redline is great with his car drifting shots that nearly breaks my neck to look at them but that is his style.
I think i am just lucky that out of 400 shots i take at a race day i ony throw away 2 to 3 shots, so my ratio is great and i dont complain.
practice practice and more practice, i find a setting i am happy with and works well with what i do and stick to it. This is what i get.
Cheers
