My favourite present/thing this Christmas

Postby Geoff on Thu Dec 25, 2008 9:36 pm

Well,
I thought it might be fun to start a 'my favourite present' photo thread..
Bel gave me this t-shirt which she partially hand sewed..and I LOVE it! This shot was taken down at Balmoral this afternoon, it was a good day!

Post your best Christmas present in this thread..or something you enjoyed about the day that you captured on your DSLR!

My favourite thing. Well my sister got me a build it yourself 35mm camera. I have built it already but I'll take a picture of it a little later (waiting for this new light tent to arrive, it should ship on the 27th). It is really quite amazing how a whole bunch of plastic pieces become a plastic lens camera.

Great pictures, the colours are awesome! That 50 f/1.4 really is something!!! Congrats on the 16-85VR I have not heard a bad thing about that lens, so I look forward to hearing your opinion on it.

that photo has a moderate amount of skin smoothing, otherwise its as is. at 1.4 i've been very impressed. by f2 its sharp and contrasty. by f2.8 this lens is really something else. seriously, i'm stunned.

the 16-85 is what it is. pretty cool little zoom. i'm very impressed at how sharp it is right out of the box. its also super fast AF and its the so quiet i cant hear it working at all. i had to check it a couple of times cos i was like..."wtf...is this thing working or not ??". i doubt i'll be using it too much though, i took around 20 photos with it today and i was happy with all of them but guess what ? they were all between 44 and 52mm. lol having to shoot at f5-ish is so limiting to me.

but as a "chuck-around" lens it seems to be a solid choice.

Nice shots Chris! Very nice.
Looks like you guys had a fun day, and the little fella's trepidation towards Santa is great..one to show him in years to come when he's 'over' Santa :)

Good stuff...more pics peoples! Come on!

Christmas over for another year,
My favarot present is a Rain Laptop stand for my Macbook. The stand lifts it up to about the same hight as the screen on my imac 8)
Took this picture christmas day, my cousins glued to their presents and not paying any attention to each other.

Just added my picture, taken using my new 75cmx75cm light tent! (my backdrops have creases in them so I have resorted to using my black backdrop as it appears to hide the creases the best)

My sister in-law gave me a voucher that notifies me that I have donated a chicken to some village in Ethiopia. I have to go all the bloody way to Ethiopia to get my eggs!

Alex & I received a Gray-Nicolls miniature cricket set - little bat, red weighted tennis ball and stumps. I am teaching to play with a straight bat through the line. Hopefully, he won't bat like his dad, who does play 'the V', but between fine leg and 3rd man!
