Re: Shoulder strap quick release?Best is to buy the Op-Tech pro-loop camera strap.
By default it comes with a quick release that can let you hook it up as a wrist strap. The neck strap park can hook back to your belt or your bag. It only cost not much more than a DIY solution to a quick release and it is 10 times more comfortable than the original strap.

Re: Shoulder strap quick release?
The other setup I have is the lowepro neoprene strap with key ring. The lowepro strap comes with those snap on key ring style hooks. You can choose to have the extension strap on the camera or not. If you don't have the extension strap on, it might be too short if you plan to swing the camera across your shoulder. And have a look at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamrac-N-25-Neopren ... 1|294%3A50

And here's me thinking that the tripod socket was for a tripod, maybe.
Re: Shoulder strap quick release?I have been using the R-strap for some time and highly recommend the system.

Actually, they don't have to dangle, you clip them to each other which makes for a very short strap or you can mix and match the connector, the pro loop that Yip refers to is just one of many, have a look here: http://www.optechusa.com/product/detail ...
