Thomas Hawk is a campaigner for photog's rights, and the following item is a link on his blog
to a segment from The Colbert Report (another current affairs/comedy prog on the Comedy
Channel, home to the superb The Daily Show with Jon Stewart)

Steven Colbert's segment is funny, but addresses this issue well. A bloke was taking photos of
Amtrak trains to enter an Amtrak photography competition and got seriously hassled by the
police (transit police in this instance).

Bastards.

Something smiliar happend to me while i was in germany. i was going thought the airport and i was pulled over by a security guard due to my camera and was asked to follow him to a interigation room and i had to unpack my camera bag and they then asked me what every peice in it was for and then bomb tested my camera and vairious things in it, it was an interesting experence.
