D70users S.L.O.W....?

Postby marcus on Thu Mar 10, 2005 9:16 pm

Is anyone finding the site a little slow at the moment? I'm on cable and have never had a problem. I've browsed other sites to see if there was a problem before posting this and all seemed OK. So am I tripping?? Is it just me?? Or has someone else noticed?

I’m on broadband cable and it is fine but I am having trouble with other sites being slow - the mystery deepens 8)

That might have been my fault for a few mins... depending on what I was doing at the time you felt it slow.

Sorry.. that was probably my fault. I use this as my download connection and as downloads shouldn't affect it, uploads will. I do limit the speed of uploads I allow from my box, however, so it shouldn't have even been noticed.

Any faster now Kipper? If so, should we dare point the finger at Nnnnsic?

You can point the finger at me if you want, but seeing as how this connection is used for both the server and for myself, I'll just ignore the gesture.

I'm sorry if you experience any slow downs, honestly I am.

When this place reaches around 10 people or more, you'll see slow downs there, too.

At the moment, this is a home-run operation. Can't do much else for you.

I am running 'ADSL' 512k/128k and I thought it was my ISP provider.
Now I can relax, no need to ring the ISP 'Help Desk' and be a nuisance.

Goodbye for now,

You can ring and be a nuisance anyway if you like.

And I don't give a rat's arse if finger pointing is politically correct or not, honestly.

Finger point all you want. I'll happily not care.

That's just one of the joys of having a hard-arse sociopath as an admin. ;)

Nnnnsic,

I am not finger pointing. I was just curious where the problem was. I am more than happy with the service provided on the forum. Just that I only transferred my plan from 256k to 512k just over a week ago and I am half expecting a problem. Because people I know using the same ISP are upgrading to 1500k. So 'IT' people are most probably under pressure, and the same can be said for the network.

Cheers,
fozzie

Mines back to normal now.

I just asked the question because there was a definate problem for 20mins or so and I rarely encounter a problem browsing. As I said, I browsed other sites during this time with no dramas and when I came back to D70users it was definately slow.

Let's all pray to god (or whatever god you may believe in, if you do believe in a god......oh no I hope this is not another can of worms!) that it won't happen again.

I can see you must be a troublemaker marcus. First you try and stir up the womenfolk, then you start casting aspersions on the speed of our forum which leads onto non-finger pointing by, at or around our hard-arsed admin.

FWIW, I had the slow electricity running through the server for a while earlier this evening. The solw electrons were complaining that they never get a run, so ....

As an aside, and not knowing whether this is related to anything...
This morning I haven't been able to get on the site using http://www.d70users.com as I usually do - would continually say it couldn't find the server.
I tried dslrusers.com and got in straight away, not even the slightest bit slow (even on dialup!).
...strange
