Did anyone here make it onto "The List"?

Postby muzz on Fri Feb 27, 2009 3:25 pm

Just looking at the list of nominees for Australia's Top Photographers 2009 and wondered if anyone here made it onto the list of nominees? Strangely, I didn't..........

I recognised a couple of names, but The List is so lacking very many names which deserve to be there... Have they published the reasoning behind The List?

Not sure if you realised that the first page is just those in the category "Advertising" there are 10 other categories with nominees in each.

Looks like anyone could nominate anyone - this is from the website:

"You can nominate up to three photographers in each category. Please note the awards are based purely on the photographers' prestige, experience and reputation. It is not a print- or entry-based system. It relies on the practical experience of industry experts and therefore strongly reflects the "real world".

Your nominations should be based on these criteria:

« Industry reputation and professionalism
« Style/creativity
« Technical expertise
« Approachability and client service"

It is a wank.

Heck, I was on last years list in the sports section. Now, while it is a wank, it is good to tell clients that you were nominated for the list... they dont know just how wanky it is.

Even wanks are useful...... :biglaugh:

Looking at some ofthe names on wedding list and their work I'm sure they nominated themselves! Also knowing 1 has only shot a couple of weddings makes it a very wanky list! ;)

So ....

who from amongst us wants to be Photographer of the Year 2010?

Do we want to set up a dslr national studio to coordinate images and participants?

Did their nomination cost you $180? Maybe it was a competitor trying to drain the working account :P

Whomever gets nominated would need to have a representative website. Within that realm, we could easily set something up with a national presence, nominate the "site" as the photographer - in various categories - and publish representative works.

Then, with members voting for the "site" ...

Not that I'd ever seriously suggest such a thing. :rotfl2:
