Markins P300U plate help..

Yes, all I need to do is attach it...but I cannot for the life of me see how the holes line up!!? I took the screw out and as far as I can tell it only fits in one part of the 'slot' but that is at the wrong end to where the d300 hole lines up...
Call me el stupide if you will, this should be so simple!
