Mark Knopfler concert in Melborne last night

Well last night was absolutely great. My wife and I went to Mark Knopfler concert and we loved it. I started off with the kit 18-70 lens and ISO1600. Looking that shutter speeds were very decent, I decided to give it ago with 70-300G and it worked alright, until a security guy approached me and told me they do not allow lenses with more than 200 mm!!! I was a bit pissed off with that but rules are rules. I was more suprised that the security knew what lens it was. Anyway, I should consider myself lucky that I could take a couple of shots with the 300mm lens before I got spoted. All in all I took 170 photos in RAW (filled up 1 GB card completely). Went through some this morning and ended up with 100 of worth-another-look images.

Here is one I quickly processed.

I've done some PP on this, namely:

Slight exp. comepnsation and mid tone adjustment in NC, saved as 16 bit TIFF
Noise ninja by shifting Lum slider to 15
USM: Strength 65, Radius: 4, Threshhold: 3
Saved as JPG

(I dont have much experience with PP, so any help will be appreciated).

(not sure how to attach photos in this forum)

Of course this photo is very ordinary, but I am only starting out in photography, so any feedback is welcome.

Some Exif data:

Lens: 70-300 G
Focal length: 300 mm
RAW 12 Bit
WB: shade
Metering mode: spot
White wedding curve
Hue adjustment: -3
Exposure time: 1/125s
Aperture priority
Aperture: 7.1

Thanks

Alex

Yeah! if you have the 70-200VR then no ones can stop you
Is it with onboard flash?

HI Birddog,

Thanks for viewing. No flash was used. The stage lighting was quite good and I was too far to use flash anyway.

Cheers

Thanks for the nice comments, Chris.

I'll try to post some more photos once I find time to do some PP on my slow computer :)

Yeah, that's quite good considering the conditions you were shooting under. i was half expecting to see a blurry, grainy small dot in the middle of the screen, but you have managed to get something far better.

Well done and i certainly look forward to seeng some more.

Thanks Steve.

Great shot given the circumstances.

See this thread for info on embedding images in posts

Alex, that is a good shot under the circumstances. Mark looks nothing like he did 15 or 20 years ago when I saw him at the entertainment centre, but then I probably don't look like I did watching him

Thanks

Thanks, Glen.

Yes, he does look much older these days, first time I saw him wear glasses.

I'm impressed :)

...mostly impressed that u took your camera in - I have always been more concerned that they're gonna say no to a camera like ours full stop - then what do you do with it?

Perhaps the 200mm thing isn't so bad afterall?

I went to Rolling Stones show in 2003 and the ticket said "Strictly no cameras allowed". This time ticket said nothing so I decided to take a risk and it was ok. I arrived deliberately early to be able to take it back to the car if it wouldn't be allowed in. They asked me whether it was a video cam or a still camera, once I said "still", they had no problem. Initially a security guard asked me to show it to him and he expressed his concern whether the 18-70 lens would be allowed. No one said anything since, except when I tried using my 70-300 and got asked to put the lens away.
