Australia Post Stamp

Ages ago I received an email from Australia Post - spam I thought, and went to bin it....
something made me read it (thank god) and it turned out to be a request to use one of my photos on an upcoming stamp. It's not a great photo, but I thought if they wanted it, they could use it :)
The series has been released today - Australian Bush Babies .. my photo is the shot of the mother and juvenile possum .. you have all been subjected to quite a few shots of this particular mum over the years :)
Thought I'd share - kind of funny really :)
hugs
Rel

Wow Rel, that awesome, and I think your a little hard on your own photo, it certainly looks good with the set of Australia animals. And I guess it pays to not spam everything too quickly.

Awesome stuff, hopefully they will send you a stack of the stamps for you to use, its the least they could do! It would be great to post stuff with your own picture on the stamp!

Imagine sending off some shots for a client review (or the like) with your very own stamp

Score! I reckon the only thing better than that would be a $2 coin minted in your image...

Thats great news Rel

I wonder how they found it? Did you enter it into a competition or were they just trawling websites?

Here is the image of the series by the way

Thanks everyone :)
They actually found my photo on my pbase site, and sent me an email asking if I would be willing to let them use it for a stamp for an upcoming issue ... this all happened at the beginning of the year :)
The maxicards (shown on this thread) actually have someone elses photo as the background on the card, and then my photo on the stamp - but all the stamps (well the possum ones) are of my photo.
And they did pay (really pretty quickly too - months ago, well before the stamp was issued), and I retain copyright.
Couldn't have done it without all the help I received here - the 'family' that is dslrusers have taught me so much (I still have SOOO much to learn), but without you guys, I'd still be shooting on auto settings :) LOL
So a big thank you to all of you, and thank you for all of your kind comments !!!
Hugs
Rel

I find it interesting that they presumably searched for and found an image that fitted their needs via the internet. This mirrors my recent experience with my Cradle Mountain Lodge image which they found on my smugmug site. You wonder if this is becoming an easier way out for "them" (i.e. instead of comissioning a photographer to do the specific job) or if it has just provided "them" with a much greater selection of images to choose from.

In the end, it is a great boon for us amateur / enthusiasts as it at least gives us the possibility of getting our images discovered and published, just by having our images "out there" on the net.

Congrats again.
