Telling stories...

Postby xerubus on Thu Mar 17, 2005 9:00 pm

The latest oyster mag has an article about a group of australian photographers called oculi.

---snip---

In 2001, nine award-winning photojournalists, united by their commitment to documentary-storytelling, formed Oculi.com.au. This unique photo agency reveals real lives and real stories that are overlooked by the mainstream media.

Some very inspiring shots....

Interesting work, some really great and original pictures happening there. One of those Oculi photog got a World Press Photo prize this year (Tsunami consequences in Aceh).

Another high quality PJ website is the one of the agency Seven - http://www.VIIphoto.com - very inspiring shots, including some brilliant James Nachwtey's photo essays (the top PJ in the world at the moment).

Link.

Kinda sucks they deliberately chose to prevent a large number of people from viewing their site. You can view most of it successfully if you run Firefox with the "User Agent Switcher" extension (pick IE6). Only the first image of each slide show works tho', the rest you need to grab manually with urls like:
http://www.oculi.com.au/photos/1.jpg

Interesting site, it's almost worth the effort to view it :)
