All of you deserve a big THANKS!!!!

I just had to pass along my thanks to all of you. I've been to other forums where the majority of posts deal more with trashing one camera or another rather than discussing the work of the person behind the camera.

I am a very new owner of a D70 and have only made a handful of posts here, but each one has recieved very useful feedback rather than off-hand comments. Kudos to all of you.

Now you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done. :D

Many thanks,

-jeff

I think our thanks have to go to you too Jeff.

This forum, although Australian based, has attracted members from around the world. But, unlike other forums, we have a very interactive forum in that we come from behind the lens and meet each other face to face.

It is unfortunate that our overseas members can not join us in these activities but if you are ever downunder you will receive a royal welcome. :D

Now I must go to a mini-meet

And there's nothing to stop our overseas members from organising their own meets, in the fullness of time.

Certainly, as I travel around and visit places (doesn't happen nearly often enough) I'll be hoping to meet the local members if I'm visiting their locales.

Scott needs a red carpet to welcome him at one of the airport.

Jeff,
I agree with your sentiments, I just hope that if we get an influx of DSLR users from other brands we can still remain civil and not degenerate to the kind of rubbish you see in other forums.
I have full confidence in the current members and moderators, lets hope.

I'm glad to see that others agree and have seen the same thing I've noticed, at first I that maybe it was just me. Now if I can just figure out how to make a trip down under. I hope it's OK for a Yank to call it that. ;-)

Jeff, we all call it that too. I don't think we will let it degenerate into the squabble some other sites do. Personally I would prefer 500 people who respected each other than 5,000 arguing idiots. It still stuns me that people argue to the death over the merits of a tool. I would be an idiot if I believed a Canon, Olympus or Konica couldn't take a good photo. I admire talent or creativity no matter what brand they choose to buy when they go in the shop.

I will say the nature of this forum has been led by Gary at the start, but these days is due increasingly to yourself and every member here, who have maintained this as the respectful forum. Vigorous discussion is welcome, name calling and personal attacks are not. There doesn't seem to be a problem here with the latter, probably helped by the fact that the majority of people here get to eyeball other members on a regular basis.

Glad you like it here.

You know Glen, I was just thinking of this in the shower this morning, odd place to think about it I know

With the meets this would put a stop to alot of that crap because people would think they are going to get their lights punched out of them if they get lets say Frisky.

Just a thought.

Mic.

Usually by Dad.

Yeah - each time. You actually end up with a collection of single sox. Do you realise how useless one sock is - an old t-shirt or singlet can be put to good use as a cleaning cloth, but what do you use a single sock for?

Well  I could suggest something, but I think it's a bit too rude.

I can think of any number of uses.

None of which could be even remotely considered to be in good taste.

What Glen said, truly, sums it up nicely. We're here to enjoy ourselves, and vigorous discussion isn't simply welcome, it's encouraged.

Likewise the banter that we enjoy, but we always need to ensure that it's done with respect; abuse of any sort is simply not tolerated.

Several months ago someone described it as being a bit like a bar, where you can engage in friendly discussions of almost anything. That's not too far from the truth.
