Time lapse using D300

Hi, I am trying to take a series of shots in one spot over 12 hrs using the D300. How do I do that? Read somewhere that it has to be hooked to a computer. What program do I need? I am thinking about 1 shot every 15 mins.

You can actually do it in camera....there is an in built intervalometer within the shooting menu. There is no need for you to plug the camera into a computer to do this. However battery power may present a bit of a problem...I hope you have a MB-D10!

See page 191 of the manual. It tells you how to do it. One shot every 15 minutes over 12 hours would only be 48 shots. You could easily do this on a single battery. If you were worried you could shorten the time the LCD displays after each shot or even turn it off altogether.

Easy
See manual for interval timer. Take 1 low res image every 30 seconds for 6 hours...no problems! Use Apple Quicktake to convert JPGs to a movie. Make sure you use manual focus and perhaps manual exposure unless you expect dramatic lighting changes. If outdoors then make a waterproof cover for the camera and lens. Nothing worse than having to bring the rig indoors after 3 hours because of the threat of rain.
