D-lighting ?

Postby Alex on Thu Mar 17, 2005 10:25 pm

Hi all,

I saw this feature in NC. What does it do? I have a red cross next to mine which means I cannot use it?

Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex - just click on the red cross and it will become usable as a green tick. :D

just click on the red X and it should turn into a green tick if you have an NEF image open.
Its a feature that helps recover blown out highlights and dark shadows.

Alex, to recover blown highlights, I've found ACR (Adobe Camera Raw - free plug-in for Photoshop) does a better job than Nikon Capture.

But for lifting details from shadows and increasing apparent dynamic range in an image, D-Lighting is a fantastic tool.

D-Lighting

Thanks, Onyx. I started out with ACR, it is much quicker than NC too. Than I read many posts on dpreview consistently saying that NC gives better results when RAW is converted to TIFF than in PS. I guess, it all depends on skills.

Cheers
