Grey D700

Postby RICPIC on Wed Oct 07, 2009 3:06 pm

Just took delivery of new D700 off Ebay, $2719. Comes with 12 months warranty but really hope I don't have to use it.

First impressions are very positive.

Perhaps with your savings you can extend your warranty with a third party based in Aussie... Just a thought.

Didn't realise that was an option, are there local third parties that offer warranty on foreign grey product?

Try http://www.phototech.com.au/ I have used them for a grey D200. You have to send it back OS in the first 12months then after than after that it is covered by the warrenty you purchase from them.

I bought a Poon D700 and promptly purchased 4 years extended for $130.

Same crowd.
Used them once, for a D70 problem, still going strong.
Though the poor little D70 doesn't get used much any more.

Being a recent owner of a D700 I know you will love it. Every time I pick it up I am amazed at how good this camera is.

I have been impressed by the pics coming out of the new toy. Initially I thought the brilliant results were mostly a product of the bigger, brighter rear display but they retain most of that brilliance whebn they appear on a monitor.

It does seem to search for focus a bit more than my D200. I'm thinking that might improve when I add more grunt with a vertical grip

I just find it difficult to understand why you would get a D700 if you really hope you don't have to use it.

My D700 seems to have a bad hunting problem, I sent it once for repair but they replied it was ok.. It is currently back with them again.. But this time I have sent it to Nikon in Sydney directly not to the local service agent. So hopefully I will get some satisfaction.. Everything about the D700 rocks just mine wont focus..grr A little search of the interwebs found a few similar also..

Good luck and enjoy
