Birddog,

As I stated in my post,I apologized if it had been posted previously.

In my previous posts I have spent considerable time searching for information that I thought would be of interest to the members.

These posts seem to have been well received according to the number of viewers and comments.

I find it unreal that you expect members to read every previous post, before posting on this forum.

This is the second time you have chastised me for wasting space in this forum.

I can assure you it will be the last time you have to do it!!!!!

Rodger.

Regdor,
Those links in the Important section are well within the research of for members and they were there since the forum established, of course if there's any new links or new helps to the community then well recommend you or other to post for the all benefits of everyone, though some of the old links may well reconsider to do a search function.

If there are thousand of members and everyone try to post the same or repeating the links already posted, then it not helpful and become uneccessary posts.

I'm not chastised you or any other want to post any link of help but want to say: please search the topic if there's one in the same meaning or exactly same identical site.

Birddog, I think you're being more than a little hard on Regdor...

Unfortunately the search function in this PHPbb forum is pretty close to useless...
e.g. If I search on captureuser on the main page, it returns no entries...
If I search on http://www.captureuser.com it returns 634 entries... Where is the logic in that???

Regdor's post obviously came as news to a couple of longstanding members, so it wasn't without value... Personally, I would rather that people feel comfortable to post anything that seems of use, even if it has been listed before...

Not all of us have time to read every single post on the forum, so I think a little duplication is inevitable...

leek,
So from now on, do members agree to see duplicate or triplicate threads or links of the same topics and same answer, right?

I think this will getting bored if we see number of old threads or links re-posted? the forum has section for the beginner questions and that can be posted or asked many questions if new members or members have.

So, it's not recommended to anyone to do the search cos this function is flawed :?:

This thread or similar threads should be posted in Important Link section for reference and not in General discussion btw.

My replied post wasn't taken hard or attack Regdor or anyone want to post a duplicated post, just remind them, there was one.

I'm sorry to all if my post is an offence.

Birdy,
Personally, I would prefer that people post duplicated useful information rather than have people too afraid to post in case it's something that has been mentioned before...
As I pointed out, due to the Search inadequacies, you can never be sure if something's been posted before anyway...
I can't even find things that I know are there, never mind things that might not be...

OK, it's up to the Admins and moderators! if they allow this happens and members accept to see some stuff keep coming back on to this board all the time with the same questions, same ideas, same links, same photos, same subjects.
If this is the case then we will see lot of non interested subjects around with many duplicates.

I won't bother them again, I promised!

Hang on a minute.

Although my number of posts is relatively low, I spend considerable time on this forum learning heaps of new stuff from those more knowledgeable than me. Only if I think I can add some worthwhile information, I will make a post.

Birddog has contributed as much to my knowledge as anyone else here. He certainly has made more posts than any other poster, nearly twice as many as the second top poster.

But in my humble opinion, you can't always take him too seriously. I know if I did, I would have left this forum not ten minutes after making my very first post (Where Birddog chastised me for wanting to use my D70 for video-conferencing  ). Nowadays, I just picture him with a cheshire cat smile, and his posts make much more sense.

Also, I thought Birddog's first two posts in this thread were both civil and spot on the mark. Indeed, I'm sure no offence was meant. BTW: I'm still having trouble getting the video-conferencing to work properly!
