It's just happened! Wooohooooo!
While I'm lurking the forum, the Fedex truck stopped in the front building, a guy open the gate a box in his hand with a big smile!
What do you guy think? Your guess!
My hand was shaking! I signed the doc, he left, I brought the box inside and did not want to open it :?: my feeling
Oh no! I'll let Glen to open the box, cos my hand shaking and I may drop it on the concrete floor, he'll be here soon!

Glen just left with his 10 pics in one 256Mb Sandisk Ultra II card on RAW compression.
He opened and shot about 30 pics in differenece way while I'm doing some works, he'll post them soon once he backed to his base.

Hey Birddog, I know this is slightly OT but do you know if Nikon are going to come out with any wide angle zoom lenses that are non DX eg. 18-70 or 18-55 with around F2.8?

Given the fact that the D70s are already being phased out for a newer meaner model, I just don't want any lenses that I have also to be made virtually useless if Nikon decide to change their direction with sensors.

Kipper,
Sorry, negative! and I don't think that range will be existed in the near future with non DX lenses, and Nikon did not have that range in the past.

Pffft, Glen - 256Mb CF card to play with a D2X?! Enjoy taking those half dozen pics. ;)

Let's see those pics of the most photographed backyard Glen!

NB: If you've figured out the new sYCC colorspace let me know... I can still only see sRGB mode 1 & 3, and aRGB1998.

Well, I just held it... and I couldn't wait to put it down! ~$15K of camera + lens (D2X + 200-400VR) is a scary proposition!

I was pondering the mechanics of taking so many large photos so quickly... in uncompressed RAW about 160 MB per second while buffered... even USB2.0 is only what, 480 Mbps, i.e. 60 MB ps. Incredible! This thing eats CF cards...

Just round at Birddog's and am I excited, my hands were shaking as I undid the box and put the card in. One awesome machine!!! These shots were taken out of the box with no adjustments to the camera (because I didn't know how to ). Luckily the D2X was set to compressed NEF, they were only 10mb instead of 25mb. Even better was when I looked at the crop in Capture it gave me the option of saving uncompressed at 69mb! Anyone got a 100 terrabyte disk for sale and a cheap cray computer?

The files are so big my 768mb 2800mhz machine is struggling! Birddog mention he had upgraded all machines to 2gb, now I can see why. Photos I took were ordinary, might have to work on some more another time. I envy you all at Blackheath tomorrow.

That was going to be "I think" written while writing aD2X file to disk, but it suddenly finished. The preview jpg was 3.2mb, the compressed NEF was 10.6, uncompressed 25mb, with an option to save as 69mb offered in Capture. Budget for a new pc with your D2X.

Glen, I think that was the unit I had a play with previously! ;) If you were able to slide the battery in and play straight away (they come pretty much fully drained), and I had set NEFs to compressed on 1 units, not sure about the rest. I also turned NR off on it (I can see your 2nd pic is consistent with NR being off).

You might also have noted the AF switch on the body was set to S instead of the true default of C. Check the shutter actuations... it might be 40 more than it should have been. :D

Chi we stuck the D2H battery in, was set to S. To be honest I couldn't really get the menus worked out in five minutes, as we were also picking up a notebook for my brother, sticking ram in mine and the Trent (MCWB) arrived. A guy like me would require five minutes just to work out how to set it up the first time.
