This lens has copped some hard knocks and tumbles and has finally failed to play, just putting up ee on the D200 LCD as it is jammed at the wrong apeture at the moment I think (the plastic around the ring is broken etc).
Also seems to be an optical problem as well from the final blow it copped.......
No Nikon repairers in Tassie AFAIK, so I will have to send it - just not sure whether to send it to Nikon service (Sydney, Melbourne?) or an independant - Poraday had some good writeups in 2008......
Suggestions please? I'm not worried too much about it, but would like it back, but the friend who was using my D200 with the 28-70 when it spat it seems a little nervous about the damage and keeps asking, so I should get it going again just to ease her concern.......
And if the pricetag is too much - I will aim to turn it into an insurance claim on my accidental damage to listed items (camera gear)......
Or maybe I just need a new 24-70 f2.8G
Might ask Gary what one of those is worth from HK now
