Deleting old reviews

Postby aim54x on Wed Mar 24, 2010 9:19 pm

I just stumbled upon this post via a facebook link
http://canonfieldreviews.com/big-changes/

Basically Ole Jorgen Liodden (Norway) is switching from Canon to Nikon after testing the D3x/D3s combination and has been signed up as a "Nikon Ambassador" as a result he is going to remove all canon reviews from his site.

Personally I would wish for these reviews to remain (for future reading by others) but at the same time I think it is disgusting how he has been treated by some of his "readers" who have gone straight to questioning his credibility and motives for making the switch. What do you all think?

What do you all think of the news and response?

i think its natural for people to be cynical about the authenticity of someones motives where sponsorship or some form of personal benefit is part of the equation. and if you combine that cynicism with fanboyism and internet drama, i cant see anythign too surprising about the response.

like you, i'd have hoped the reviews could remain somehow. but in saying that, as a nikon embassador i cant see how that would be a tenable position. in fact...when you think about it, its actually UNtenable. perhaps he could link it to other sites for their archive purposes ? it is however HIS property and he should be able to do whatever the bloody hell he likes with it !! lol

what do i think of the "news" though ? i dunno, is it actually news. i dont know who he is. is this a major coup for nikon in the photography world ? i read it simply as "nikon gave me shitloads and canon gave me bugger all...adios canon." but maybe i'm just excessively cynical...lol

LOL you know what i think those readers should do?

go to shop.

Play with the lens/camera/ general lightcapturing accessory and/or equipment.

then make a decision.

seems like the best option to get great advice, I know I try to offer my best advice towards what people are after, same as Cameron.. but then again, you've always got those Hardly Normals.

He makes a fair point about high ISO quality of D3s vs 1D4.

Makes me realise what a brilliant photog he is. He made some awesome photos with his canon gear. Lo and behold he is doing the same with his nikon.

That a side, he is simply doing what his sponsors would expect of him.
