Markins M-20 QBall

PostPosted: Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:48 am

Well I just recieved two deliveries this morning. One for my Markins M-20 QBall and the other for my RSS MPR-CLII. I have another sliding plate on order which should arrive later today or tomorrow for the RSS MPR-CL.

First impressions of the Markins M-20......it's big and black and wonderful. I never anticipated it to be this big! Can't wait to use it. The only thing that's got me a bit confused is the fact that I have ordered a MP-II bag for it, and the order sheet doesn't say it's on backorder. So I've contacted Mr Mah to find out what's going on.

cyanide,
The forum has more than many posts about the legs, heads, brackets which you're after in all around the circle.

Of course, people will tell: same as no more duck!

Yes, there certainly are a lot. :)

For my research, I am trying to read them all.... :shock: :shock: :shock:

We could almost do with a Section and Sub Section for:

Discussion
-> Bodies
-> Lens
-> Flash
-> Tripods and Heads
-> etc

Sometimes it's hard to find what you want via the search.

hehehehe! then car, engine, carby, tyre, wheel, roof rack :lol:
Then Lexar, Sandisk, PSD and no ending list! :lol:

There would probably be a maximum of 10-15 sub sections

bodies
lens
lighting (flash, studio lights etc)
tripods/monopods + accessories
heads + accessories
compact flash
storage devices (eg. compact drives)
cleaning products
batteries
misc accessories

I don't think the admins happy with your request! they have more than enough works.

Excellent acquisition! Let us know what you think about it after using it for a few weeks.

I use an Oral B toothbrush, and also keep a maglite solitaire in my camera bag. Is that enough detail for you Kipper. I really think sections such as the battery section wouldn't attract many visits and would rarely change, but would eat up valuable front page real estate.

I'm sorry I spoke! I was only trying to put through an idea. Given the fact that you're the first to pounce on anybody who asks the question about something that has already been discussed, wouldn't that make you think that trying to find the information isn't easy?

Yes, I can search any topic of head, tripod, RRS, AUB, Kirk with very simple ways, and I found them.
Just spend time to read them, cos we discussed about them in many threads of these tools and gadgets.

And then , I still answered cyanide or someone new with this forum or pointed the to the related threads.

I think you are on the right track Kipper, just splitting a board too much means some areas become backwaters. Eg can't imagine myself rushing to the battery section to see if there had been any developments in the world of batteries overnight :wink:

Yeah I know, just an example though. I know there have been many talks on the en-el3, plus the various types of AA rechargeables.

I can see you are a man who gets excited about batteries Kipper :wink:

Shrug, I get home at about 5.30-6pm each night. Spend about 0.5hr winding down from work and getting changed, 1hr for dinner, then a few hours spending time browsing and trying to do PP work with my photos. Then to bed at about 10-11pm. I dunno about you but I don't really enjoy spending my whole night going through 100 threads that are returned when you search for "Markins M-20".

that's how this modern life brings to us!
you can google one words and it returns thousand links! but you don't need to read all of them, few will help you + your own research with other sites.
I did learn myself about photography and other bits and pieces by that way, plus I'm sure many threads in our forum related to what you're after are well served with rich infos.
You may take more time to do more research prior to make your own decision than listening or reading some other opinions cos everyone has a difference taste and choice or some opinions does not suit you well in financial or your liking.
When I first came to this forum, perhaps no ones know about the Gitzo or RRS or AUB or L brackets etc... The second meet at Sans Souci, only two people have the 70-200VR are pluckaduck and myself, part of that lens, members mainly have the kit lens, not so many VR at that time then, look now: a big change and difference with members.

We built up a good resources for members references including playing, eval, testing with real stuffs with all gadgets, tripods, heads, brackets, Angle viewfinder etc... in my inventory and this offer are still continuing today at many mini meets.

Here are some shots of the Markins M-20, a side by side comparison to a Kilkenney 440ml can of beer so you can compare the size, the other with the 70-200VR on with the RRS LCF-10.

I'm glad you said "almost"

AFAIC, we already have too many sections, which makes navigation of the front page difficult. With some of the changes we're planning, that's not going to get any better, and your suggestions haven't even been considered within that schema.

Thanx Glen. That is a primary consideration here, and it also affects the performance of the system too.

Gstark, fair enuff. Just trying to look at ways we can reduce the same old "Whats the best ...?" and then get somebody all wound up and respond "It's been discussed 1000 times before, go search the threads".

kipper,

Markins promotes the grey on the main knob as being calibrated ie you can set WB on it... have you tried this, and if so: is it difficult given the small area; and how well does it work?

PostPosted: Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:23 pm

Cyanide that is an interesting idea. It looks like Kipper went for a black knob by his photos. Maybe it is an option.

Kipper, did you ask for a black knob?

Nah it's a grey knob :)

Just poorly exposed.

The 200-400VR makes it look small too.

Ps. I hate you rob.
