3rd party neck strap

I am looking at purchasing a replacement neck strap which will provide better comfort levels over the standard Nikon jobs. I have looked at OpTech, Black Rapid and Lowepro versions - on line only, so have not handled them in the flesh.

Can anybody give some feedback / recommendations about these (or others) in regard to their usability and names of recommended Australian stockists would be good too :D

i bought the optech after recommendations from lots of the guys here and it is superb. absolutely superb.
michaels in melbourne was the only Oz retailer i could find at the time who stocked them.

havent heard of the black rapid but the lowepro one SUCKS.

I've got the Lowepro and its comfortable but those quick release buckles dont add anything and just get in the way. i guess they are best suited to multiple cameras and quick changes. I wanted optech based on web opinions but just came across lowepro in a store at the local shops. Probably the only lowepro product I'd never buy again.

Op-Tech Pro Loop!!!!

I have got one for each of my DSLRs, and am currently using a Kata Reflex C on my FM2n (neoprene and weight reducing as well but not as good).

Thanks for the feedback............

Not seen this one advertised, it's not on the OpTech site either.

came across lowepro in a store at the local shops

.....and was the only reason why the Lowepro got added to my list :!:

Looks like an Op Tech is the way to go, which was my initial choice . I think I will go for the Pro Loop version as recommended by Cam.......Michaels do not have this one listed on thier website though.....may have to purchase from overseas, US/UK?

I see there are lots on evilbay, but not sure if these would be genuine products?

geoff, i placed my order by phone at michaels cos they didnt have it listed. way back when i bought it, it worked out much cheaper than o/s. but with the AUD much stronger now, you may get a better deal via the US.

I have ordered a OpTech Pro Loop through Duracom Supply (thanks Cam), cost is AU$29.63 delivered. Michaels in Melbourne do stock them even though they are not shown on the website, but wanted AU$51.99 delivered. Hopefully the delivery time will not be too long from the US.

My strap arrived today....just 10 days from order placement. Have fitted it to the camera and there is an immediate difference in the comfort but the ultimate test will be 'out in the field'. Why Nikon dont supply something like this as OE I do not understand, when spending thousands on a camera body, a few extra bucks for an improved strap ain't gonna break the bank.

Great to hear that the strap arrived. You will notice a big difference in the field, just carry your camera on your shoulder for a little while!
