Sorry to hear of your loss. Having any gear stolen is no fun. :(

Anyways, welcome and make yourself at home.

Welcome, and as Onyx says, sorry to hear hat you were ripped off.

Why are you replacing the 300D with a D70? Why not stay with Canon? Have you used Nikon before, just curious, disappointed with the 300 ?

cheers

replacing the 300D with a *better* model ... was either D70 or 20D ... have no vested interest in either nikon or canon, although my work colleagues have lots of nikon glass such as 200mm F2.8 glass etc.

the Nikon D70 is an awesome camera .. the ONLY hangup i had with it was the risk of a bit more noise.

The 300D is great, but i want something a bit better. The 20D is AWESOME but its also nearly a grand more, and i cant afford it. (well, I can, but i have spending barriers in my brain ... albeit theyre made from foam :) )

Thanx for the input.

Yes, the 20D is quite nice, but I woul have to agree with your reservations in percieving it as good value at the asking price. The increase in resolution is negligble, and the D70 is damn fast camera already. I'm not sure what the gain would be, geven the dollars spent.

One important factor against the 20D is its lack of spot metering. I have trouble understanding why Canon continue to exclude this feature from this line of cameras.

That would probably be a deal breaker for me, not that I'm looking ...

yeh ..

tjhough the non spot metering thing is not an issue, you just use the AE lock button which forces it down to spot. Granted, its a workaround.

i think im sold on the d70.

now, i just have to get a diopter that can do +1 ! :)
