Simpson Desert crossing.Paul (LostDingo) and I are planning a trip across the Simpson Desert travelling on the Oodnadatta track, Painted Desert, French Line through to Birdsville, back through Cameron's Corner. That will happen in August. We will have swags to sleep in, a fridge, an Esky, plenty of food and beer . I would appreciate tips as to what to see, to do, not to do...
Cheers, Gerard
Re: Simpson Desert crossing.gerard
my main advice is when crossing the simpson make sure you put your radio on scan so you can hear other traffic, we had one dh that didnt have a radio and we nearly "met" at the top of a hill, most traffic goes west-east but this guy went the other way, we had a great time especially around the campfire at night ( oh did i tell you it was cold at night ) so make sure you take beanies etc. here are some pics of our adventure http://robw.smugmug.com/Travel/simpson-desert-trip/690394_t3m7B#29992235_iNjMP cheers rob
