Coolpix 5000

Postby Matt. K on Thu Sep 30, 2004 10:22 pm

Like most of the members here, I'm guessing that the D70 wasn't your first digital camera. I started off using the Coolpix 900...almost useless but interesting, and then the 950...better, sometimes useful and then the 990...a camera that had some use. None of these cameras belonged to me but when the Coolpix 5000 came out I knew I had to have one. The camera had some serious shortcomings, but if you worked around them then it had the ability to produce some stunning work. Because you had to take care with it in some ways it produced more keepers than the D70. I sold my 5000...for a pittance, and must confess I miss it just a little. Here are some pics I took with it.

You are right Matt - the 5000 certainly produced great results.

I did notice that one of the helicopter(?) shots of the city had the horizon on an angle  and a question, was the MIG shot of an ex-Polish plane?

G'day,
That first one (http://www.pbase.com/matt_k/image/34446688) is a good example of how a good photographer can produce great images without a whizz bang DSLR. Great subject choice...

Cheers,
