I do have a valid excuse for not visting much in the last week, I am half way, well maybe over halfway, through the great Vic bike ride. 590 kms over 9 days, 3800 peeps on pushies punching on through the lovely Victorian countryside. It's actually very enjoyable when its not raining

I can thoroughly recommend it to those looking for a slightly different kind of holiday.

Enough talk, wish me luck for the next few days, unfortunately carrying a dslr is outta the question, so the camera phone, a bit water logged, has to suffice.

Lol. It has been lately. Very strange weather the last week or so.

A MASSIVE storm just missed Seymour by a kilometre or so last night. The guys doing OT at work almost didn't make it out.
You know the road to turned off onto today to take you to Broadford with the little fire station on it? They got 72mm there last night! There was 4 feet of water flowing across the road
If that had of hit Seymour you probably would've drowned in Kings Park!

Lol... no probs about Seymour...we got hailed on today as we headed down the hills into Yea. What the hell is with the crazy weather. I bet it will be sunny and fine for the drive back to Sydney...grrrr.

It's very strange alright. There's massive storm fronts sweeping across the state.
The forecast is for more of the same until late next week.

Dude, keep safe (and dry if possible) and have fun! Sounds too tiring for my liking.

Well, I did make it back alive, I averaged 22km/h over the whole trip with the slowest average being 18.4km/h which was a mostly uphill day.

Now I must say, camera phones are shite..however here a few images that sum up parts of the trip..anyone wanna sign up for next year

My trusty steed..no punctures and no breakdowns, went thru half a container of lube due to it sitting in the rain every night!

You could definitely get some gear in your bags that travelled in the semi trailers between the sites, however there are two issues with this, 1) the bags cop a flogging, worse than what qantas baggage handlers inflict 2) you really want to take pictures during the ride, this is where the nice scenery is, I did not take many pictures, mainly since I was trying to concentrate on getting to the other end of each leg . I suppose you could definitely could get some panniers and then you could bring your whole kitchen sink

There are lots a great oppourtunities to get shots of riders of all levels, from the dudes who did each day twice (nutters), to the the 87 year old bloke, its one of those events where you can capture those scenes with hundreds and hundreds of riders pouring down a hill...
