Hi Christian,

It wasn't first time - I'm doing this about a once per month but it was hardest time. Standard "wet" solution - PecPads, Eclipse, Sensor Swipe. Before it was 3 PecPads maximum, usually 1 or 2. But this time I almost lost control :)

Heppy Easter

Hi Mikhail
That happens to me sometimes too. Looks like it's something we might have to live with.

Hi i Mikhail,
whatever is happening with your sensor clean, RELAX.
You also might like to take a break before you "touch " the cleaning again.
Take time off., breathe, relax and try again.

Bin there, done that, got very aggro and finally relaxed (its matter of time. You clean the sensor for the umptheenth time, yes ? Tthe sensor is still not cleaned ? It takes 10 times, yes ? Make absolutely sure that youre cleaning utensils and agent have NOT been contaminiated with your finger or so !
Put only two drops of Eclypse fluid onto the pec pad.
Also use the pec pad immediately. BTW
If you ned to clean your lens or filter:
Pec pad and Eclypse are absolutely fantastic !!!

good luck and happy Easter

Thanks Christian! That's exactly what I'm doing usually but this time it almost killed me :) BTW, is anyone cleaning the mirror? I've heard it's not safe to clean it - e.g. you can move it and disbalance focus or whatever else. I've got some dust on it and wondering if I should touch it or not?

Hilop,
Give it a break, have 1/2 bottle of RED and re-do, it will be cleaned!
RED and Eclipse fluid will work together, no doubt.
Sometimes you don't need to use Pec Pad & EClipse Fluid, Just a good blower will help! and it saves your times, efforts same as no frustation!

Huh! That's why I asked you to reserve me a Giotto Rocket. Initially I hoped to pick it up in Blackheath, then I was thinking to go to mini-meet today. Bad luck - can not come today

At least you guys have worked up the courage to "do it"... I'm still whoosing out and using the healing brush in PSCS

Can see some grubbies in teh viewfinder though that don't appear in images, so I assume they're on the mirror?

Only 7 pec-pads? I lost count my first time, but did end up with a large pile of used pec-pads. These days it is one or two. Confidence and a little experience makes this a relatively trivial chore. Two drops of Eclipse only, swipe one way all of the way to the edge of the sensor, then back, then toss the pecpad.
Sometimes I might give the mirror a swipe - no harm done so far, but I am more inclined to use the Giotto there prior to doing the sensor. If the mirror cannot take a swipe then what chance does it have when slapping up and down at 1/500s?

Cheers :D

7?? Is that all? Took me 12 PecPads the first time I did it. Second took 3. Never mind the PecPads, I nearly lost mind that day. Thought it would never end. Stayed up till 2 am that day and ended up shooting white sheet of paper because the blue sky was no longer available.

What are you using as the cleaning device with the pec-pads? Custom built or the SensorSwipe?

With my first go of sensor cleaning I went through about 50 pecpads if not more. This was partially due to my shithouse blower (now have a Giotto Rocket - thumbs up to this one) that I bought blowing about 100 contaminents onto the sensor. At the time I was trying to use spent SensorSwabs with a pecpad wrapped around them but found them too flexible to get any decent pressure onto the LP Filter. Now with the SensorSwipe (or custom spatula) I find I can get a good amount of pressure to do the job right. Now I only take 2-4 swipes to get it clean!
Also it's true what they say about eclipse fluid. At the start you will tend to place 2-3 drops, sometimes by accident. Try and get it down to 1 drop, and make it a small drop too! I find too much eclipse fluid and it starts to leave fluid on the sensor which smears when it dries. You want just enough to provide a bit of cleaning and lubrication but once you swipe over it disappears before you've finished reaching the other side. Too much and when you wipe it stays there for about 10-30seconds and smears when dries.

Well i have had this problem today cleaning mine. The first time i did it i used 1 pec pad and worked a treat but today after i have done many lens changes that i had some bunnies to tend with and i did it 4 times today and still have a couple on it, but decided that was it for the day.
Down to 3 bunnies i can handle so yeh will try another day or when i get a few more.

Leave it when you feel the right time for doing it again! Relax!
