Consolidating 3 lenses into 1 PC-E

I'm in a dilemma in that after acquiring 24-70 and 70-200, I hardly use the 28-70 f/2.8D and 85 f/1.4D.

As for Macro lens, the PC-E 85 can replace the 105VR to some extent. I will lose the 1:1 but gaining the creative DOF feature of PC-E lens. Either way for macro purpose, manual focusing need to be used.

Any thoughts and inputs from you guys?

I do people photography especially weddings. So, macro lens is a must have for me.

Thanks for your input.

I dont know how your counting 3 lenses into 1, because the 28-70 has effectively been replaced by your 24-70, so an PC-E 85mm would be displacing your 85mm f/1.4 and your 105VR.

I would think very carefully about this move, I have not used a PC-E 85mm, but I would think that it would not have the creaminess of the 85mm f/1.5, and I am sure that AF would be very valuable for wedding work. Maybe look at combining the 85mm and the 105VR into just the 105VR (I find it quite capable for portraiture) I would then look at a wider PC-E (say 24 or 45) if I needed a PC lens.

Thanks, Cameron.

I still kept my old 28-70 beast as a spare just in case. Trading this beast off would partly finance other gear acquisition.

I did have a chance to use the PC-E 85. instead of using f/16 and beyond with macro lenses, the PC-E lens is able to capture, eg, the entire ring clearly w f/5.6 or wider. The ima

DOF is still pretty shallow for macro purposes even at very small aperture which resulted in picking up not only sensor dusts but other particles and fibers on and around the subject.

Thanks for your input once again. This is really a dilemma! :?
