Just wanted to say thanks to Birddog....Birddog has helped me out on a couple of occasions and is always willing to help people on the forum with his knowledge, experience and contacts - with no gain for himself. So thanks Birddog - I (and others I'm sure) really appreciate it. That also goes for Gary and other users on this forum. It's great to have a place that is non judgemental, non flaming, relevant AND local!
Marvin
And from what I have seen in other threads, birdie has lived an amazing life too!
I second Onyx's nomination, notwithstanding the egalitarian nature of this fine group. Greg - - - - D200 etc

The only problem with this is that, as Marvin pointed out, so far you guys are all non judgemental, non flaming and relevant. That is, you're behaving yourselves, and thus there's been nothing thus far that's needed moderation. I'm not complaining, mind you: I think it's a testament to your maturity. We're all willing to listen and help, and this is as good an example as I've seen. Well done - 10 bonus points to every member of this community. g.

I agree Birddog is selfless in his help to those here.
I think the appropriate designation would be "lifetime membership"! What could be more prestigous than lifetime membership to an organisation which has only been around for 12 weeks? Seriously, lifetime member would be very appropriate and Birddog should be our first.
Whose lifetime ?
I guess a free membership might be in order ... hmmm .... oh, yes, I see ... there's something slightly less than practical about that idea as well. g.

Thanks everyone!!!!!
And that's the answer why we have this forum, a small community but lot of fun and creatively, we must say thanks to the forum's founder and his efforts to build this up for us gathering and other members who giving their times making this forum became active. Hope one day we will organize a bigger meet with all our members so we can say cheers to each other, perhaps our forum's anni next year. Birddog114

Sincere thanks from just about the only non D70 owner hereThanks Birddog
You have not only taught humbleness but amply demonstrated it as well. Gary - If you want some flames, my cranky cockatiel will be pleased to oblige! Also the comerarderie (sic) on this forum is amazing! Cheers and thanks to all Graham
I agree! Why don't we all go to a Vietnamese restaurant....there is a great one in Canley Vale called the Bach Dang! and honour birddog for his love of life and the forum? Sometime before Xmas...a Friday night? The food is fabulous and no one will pay more than $25 a head? And Birddog will feel at home and amongst friends. (And the ceiling is low enough to bounce flash).

Me too Thanks mate Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
Matt, That one is one of our nice traditional Vietnamese restaurant too, Bach Dang is the name of the river in the Northern of Vietnam. I think we might leave it for our forum's anniversary next year. I'm planning in my head now and will discuss with Gary and members in our next meet. Birddog114

I concur with the rest of the guys. Birddog has been fantastic.
I very much appreciate the efforts he has put in to fostering the 'communal harmony' between us. Thank you for your time and efforts.
Make sure you guys take some pictures and post them for those of us who can't quite make the trip to Sydney!
Birddog's elevation to "Patron" status is perfect.
Nice work Gary (I assume) and congratulations Birdie Greg - - - - D200 etc

Someone else to thank :)I must say at this point there is one other who deserves our thanks, the person who with one solitary post on Dpreview "is there anyone else in Sydney who would like to get together?" got this ball rolling. Of course we are all chatting today on his computer which resides, with this board on it, at his home. That is Gary Stark. Without him, and his speedy action to get the d70 users name, our group would not exist.
Thanks Gary
I concur with everything that has been said so far, I don't post very much but I read quite a bit, I used to go to dpreview as my first port of call when I log on to the net, but it's been relegated to second by this site.
Well done to all concerned.
Thanx for noticing, and for confirming my thoughs on this. It seemed to Leigh and me to be a reasonable acknowledgement of Birddog's input here. g.

Sounds like a good idea to me, but equally, I see no reason why we cannot have, for instance,
Why not an appropriate (inappropriate works for me too, btw) celebration of the Chinese New Year Last edited by gstark on Fri Oct 01, 2004 11:31 am, edited 1 time in total.

Why not an appropriate (inappropriate works for me too, btw) celebration of the Chinese New Year Leave it to me! I'll try to find one nice place for us to gather pre-Xmas. I usually selected number of restaurants (Chinese & Italian) for our Company"s Xmas Party and entertained our customers. Birddog114

I guess that it's just as well I can make my own sushi. I'm not into Asian cars. There's but one Honda that I could see myself owning ... g.

Just don't give him any ideas, people.

Leigh, with Christmas around the corner I thought you would encourage Gary's spending, maybe a D70 or even D2x as a gift for someone with a valid educational use for them?
ps Gary, is it the Honda Beat you like? Last edited by Glen on Fri Oct 01, 2004 2:41 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Gary, you have created a site that is more enjoyable than the DPreview site and like some of the others this is now my first port of call. Maybe because its membership is smaller and we are close in locality, and maybe because of some of the characters who drop in. I hope you are getting the reward of your efforts and thanks for the great site! This is going to grow bigger than you ever imagined.
Regards

Nice try, Glen... I do applaude the effort, but unless I do Honours next year, I'll be done with the educational use. Lol. And he likes the S2k. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au
