Looking for photo competitions to enter

I couldn't find a topic discussing this so I thought I'd start one.

How does one go about finding worldwide photo competitions to enter?
Are there any traps and pitfalls to watch out for?

I am aware that some unscrupulous comps will charge you to enter and in the fine print it might say something like "all images entered belong to the promoter and may be used in any way, entering this competition forms the basis to agreeing to this condition".
There's nothing wrong with having to pay to enter a comp (to an extent), but copyright and image use discretion should remain with the photographer IMO. In short, if you don't like their rules, don't enter... But it's important to read the rules.

There's the Art Takes Miami comp that I have entered.
And I have discovered ANZANG -
The cost is AU$38.00 (includes GST) for the first image and AU$22.00 (includes GST) for each subsequent image
Is that normal?

There are some competitions on Outdoor Photographer, but I remember reading somewhere an opinion that they want free use of your photo... Ah Google, found THIS.

Where else does one go to learn about what photo comps might be coming up?
What other traps can you fall into when entering competitions?

Just had a look in the rules in one of the past Outdoor Photography comps...

USE OF ENTRY: By submitting an entry, entrant grants Sponsor and its designees an irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide perpetual license to use the entry and his/her name, city and state of residence for credit purposes in Sponsor’s online galleries, without further compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law. In addition, each winner grants to the Sponsor and its designees an irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide perpetual license to use and distribute the entry [(as submitted, or as cropped by Sponsor)], and his/her name, city and state of residence for credit purposes, in any and all media now or hereafter known, including without limitation in Outdoor Photographer magazine, for purposes of promotion of this Contest and other Sponsor contests and/or for purposes of advertising and promoting Sponsor and, except as otherwise stated herein, without further compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law.

Screw that...

There is good money to be made in having photo competitions...

Tourism Australia comes to mind as a great competition...why hire a photographer when you can get a bandfull of amateurs to fill up your stock library.

Seriously though, i have very little experience with competitions so my opinion is next to worthless on this topic/.
