Adobe Upgrade policy changeHi,
looked around but couldn't find a mention on this. Starting with Photoshop CS6, you will need to be on the previous release to upgrade. So if you are not on CS5, you will need to buy the full version of CS6. In the past, Adobe allowed to be a few releases behind in order to qualify for the upgrade price, eg to get CS5 upgrade price, you needed CS2-3-4. Check out the post on their blog: http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/20 ... ID=2159997 This seems to have been brought about with their monthly licensing model. Re: Adobe Upgrade policy changeI have a feeling that the upgrade to Lightroom 3 was only valid from Lightroom 2. I know I started with Lightroom 1 and had to provide the license number from LR1 and LR2.
Re: Adobe Upgrade policy changeGood find. Not friendly by Adobe.
When I purchased CS, I was able to purchase a very cheap Photoshop 3 on the web plus an upgrtade to the then current edition. This will probably drive many to Lightroom plus increasingly ageing copies of Photoshop.
Re: Adobe Upgrade policy changeI checked the Adobe site. You can currently upgrade from Lightroom 1 or Lightroom 2 at the same price.
The Adobe Upgrade notice doesn't mention Lightroom though maybe the same change will happen there. That would be less of an issue though because the upgrade price is much less.
Re: Adobe Upgrade policy changeFYI Scott Kelby has an open letter to Adobe on the front of his blog at the moment:

Re: Adobe Upgrade policy changeThat sucks and is really just Adobe being greedy. Let's say they bring out a new version of CSxx every 2 years. Do you really need to upgrade that often - how many killer features would you get? The moment you miss an upgrade Adobe have a customer in the open market. if paying full price then I'd certainly take a long hard look at the competition. Interestingly I'd be more likely to upgrade every 2 versions whioch is my current habit. If this is in place my upgrade pace (and Adobe's $$$ would become sporadic).
