Tamron Adaptall/Adaptall-2

I was just interested if anyone has used any lenses from this "golden period" for Tamron? If anyone can comment on the differences between the two mounts (and how it applies for a Nikon user)? If anyone has any of these lenses...

I have been doing a bit of research on these and there are a few interesting lenses, and some of them are not very expensive. As one who likes to tinker, and the new owner of a Sony A65 (and there is a Alpha adaptor available) I was hoping someone can help me out to see if I can find a lens or two that I can use on both my Nikons and the Sony. PS if you are interested I am looking at the SP 17mm f/3.5 (Adpatall-2), 24mm f/2.5 (Adpatall-2), 28mm f/2.8 (Adaptall), 28mm f/2.5 (Adpatall-2)

I have a Tamron SP 70-210mm f/3.5 with Adaptall-2, Tamron SP 35-80mm f/2.8-3.8 with Adaptall-2 and a Tamron 28-50mm f/3.5-4.5 with Adaptall-2 back from the days when I had both Nikon and Pentax cameras.

I just tried the 70-210mm and 35-80mm on my D300 and they both worked fine. Manual focus, obviously, and aperture adjustment via the aperture ring on the lens. Fine for Manual or Aperture Priority.

What else do you need to know?

Thank you for the comments Andrew. It was never a doubt about whether or not they lenses + adapter would work on my Nikons, but more so I was after a bit of an explanation of the differences between Adaptall and Adaptall-2 (ie can I use an Adaptall-2 adaptor with an Adaptall lens, vice versa). The other question that you can answer for me Andrew (since you have some lenses from the period) is how is the image quality on a modern digital camera?

This site may be of value: http://www.adaptall-2.org/index.html

Image quality is hard to assess. I don't think Adaptall/Adaptall-2 affects the quality but rather the glass in the lens. Here are some shots that might be used to assess:

Three shots taken with Nikkor 70-300mm @ 200mm, Nikkor 200mm f/4 and Tamrom 70-210mm @ 210mm. All shot from a tripod @ 100/s, f/11 with a flash bounced off the roof using TTL. All 100% crops from the centre of the image.

Tamron shot is not great, but that could be my poor manual focusing (I used AF for the other 2) and I forgot to take the stupid filter off the front.

Whoops....then can I take it seriously as a comparison shot?

Thank you for going to the effort, it is much appreciated.

I have been roaming around that site that you linked, it certainly is interesting.
