I'm hoping someone can help.

I'm doing a 5 day photo trip to the Alpine area, staying in Jindabyne.

The purpose of the trip is relaxing a photo opportunities, so I am hoping for some advice from you good folks.

The only thing I have plannned for certain is climbing Mt Kosciuszko. Anything else is open to suggestions.

Any tips from those in the know will be appreciated.

At this time of year, the wildflowers can be really something.
Depending on how fit you are, you could walk to K via Blue Lake and Mt Townsend. It is a VERY long walk though. Around Thirty Km. I did it as a day walk many years ago. I doubt I could do it in two now.
Other thoughts would be to walk parts of the Snowy River between Thredbo Diggings and Thredbo. It is very overgrown but some beautiful river vistas.
A trip to Porcupine Rocks from Perisher is a lovely short walk with a magnificent vista at the end.
You could also head up towards Whites River from Guthega Power Station., possibly as far as Valentines River. Once you would have passed about six historic huts - Whites, Horse Camp, Schlinke Hilton, Danae, Valentines, Disappointment Spur - but I am not sure how many survived the 2003 fires.

Another short walk is up from Dead Horse Gap near Thredbo towards the east. You may run into brumbies here. I have quite often.

Drive around to the Khancoban side and you have a lovely little lookout. Owens LO from memory with view up to the main range. They actually look like mountains from there.

A dry weather road (2WD) All weather for 4WD will take you most of the way to Davies Hut. You need to walk the last kilometre or so from Red Flat on the Gungarlin River Excellent fishing here too, though it is getting a little too well known. Drive in via Nimmo Bridge & Hill. Let me know if you need detailed instructions for this one. You need to go through 6 gates. All above board.

A drive along the Snowy highway towards Tumut will take you to Long Plain which will give you access to Coolamine homestead which is very picturesque. A bit further along the highway will get you to Yarangobilly Caves. Worth a look, but last time I was there they wouldn't let me take my tripod in. Made most of my photos miss rather than hit.

Either on the way there or back, Batlow is well worth a look. Very picturesque little town.

A trip down Barry Way will give vistas of native pine forests some with views of the Murray.

One of the best views in the park is from the Queen Elizabeth Tea House. But it is a very long boring walk along the road from the trailhead (18km each way) Go to the Eucumbene dam, cross the spillway and keep driving until you get to the locked gate. Then you get out & walk unless you have a key to the gate. The teahouse is just a ruin now. Rumour has it it was built for the Queen's visit as a rest stop, but she just drove straight past.
