Thank you for all the photos...

Well, after 7 years and 21 days of faithful service my D70 has been replaced with the spectacular D7000 and 18-105 VR lens.

The D70 will be staying in the family though....my younger sister is super excited about getting her 1st dSLR camera (my old D70 with 18-70 kit lens).

Now all I need to do is get my head around the million and one functions of the D7000 and I'll be right.
I knew every function on the D70 so it's a weird feeling trying to locate settings - but I'll get there!

I have only had a short amount of time to play with the new toy and so far I am blown away. It's like I've not been using a real dSLR before...

So I'd like to formally thank my trusty D70 for the many years of trouble-free service it has given me (and my family) and I look forward to it's big brother doing the same for years to come.

For all those that have replaced their trusty, ageing cameras for newer models let us have 10 seconds silence to remember those that have given so much and asked so little!

Dave

Well said Dave. My trusty D70 was pensioned off about 6 years ago when I migrated to the evil (Canon) side. It was indeed a superb piece of gear. If only my photographic skills were as good as the camera!

Ozi.

Congrats on the new addition to the family. I am sure your D70 will continue to serve your sister well, but the D7000 will be a great piece of kit for you. Just a caution though, you may want to compare the lenses, you may find you prefer the 18-70 more than the 18-105VR.

Dave,

the D70 was a great camera, still is. Mine got dropped, otherwise, I probably still would have it. I even bought one for my god-daughter and she is really enjoying it. Though camera, except when it hits a rock from about 5 feet

You'll love the D7000, that's only 100 times more features to get used to 8)

cheers,

André

I also thank thee, i was lent a D70 for a week or so by my boss to try out to see if I wanted to get into that new fangle dangled Digital SLR trend ;)

What I really loved about teh D70 over the D80 was the way it produced really nice exposure and colours straight off teh bat, could well have been my imagination however the small number of images I took with the camera seem to agree with me.

Dave you will not regret the D7000, maybe just a bit of a shock when you see teh file size compared to yee ol D70.

For a some nostaligia I had a look at some of the images from that week

I'm in the same boat as you Dave. I upgraded to the D7000 a few months ago but my D70 went to a good home, one of our members got it for his daughter for Xmas
Love the new camera.
