Finally, some discussion on the differential geographic pricing model adopted by software companies.

Let's hope that many other voices join in.

I believe that an online price should be the same wherever you are.

I have recently bought software online (Spyder 3 to 4) and the cost has been the same as per source. It looks to me as if the price differential applies to the big boys only and why are they big boys? Because they set themselves above all others and as a result become total wankers.

A Microsoft spokesperson yesterday blamed its 125 per cent mark-up on a number of factors, saying: "Every market is different and prices vary by region being determined by a variety of location-specific factors including, but not limited to, local market conditions, local taxes, duties and in the case of physical retail and logistics."

In other words... local market conditions, taxes, duties, physical retail and logistics on my SLS AMG are a lot higher than other countries so we have to charge more.

"local market conditions" = price that market is willing to pay.

It's not like we have much say in it though!

Adobe Photoshop CS6 Full version in the US is US$699.

Here in Australia, we will have to pay AU$1168 (equivalent US$1205.48 at today's spot rate).

Surely it cannot be justifiable?

I get what you are saying but we talk with our dollars. If I think something is overpriced I just do not buy that product. They rip us off because they can get away with doing so without really hurting their sales volume in this market.
