Markins M10 - Interesting bit of info

Postby W00DY on Thu Mar 31, 2005 12:12 pm

I know there are lot's of threads on this head (one which I am looking at getting) but thought I'd post this little bit of info I just read on the Markins site.

Markins M-10 New in 2005:

"The new grey label on the main knob is color calibrated so that it can be used as a grey card for digital photography."

Has anyone got one of the new models and used this for white balance setting?

Woody
I think it would be too small to use for setting WB in the camera but could be useful to include the head in the first frame and then using the eye dropper tool in the CURVES pallet in PS you could set your WB from there.

Good point about using it later in PP.

I also thought it might be a bit small but thought maybe there was a way around it since they advertise the fact you can do it.

I'll wait and see if Kipper reads this thread.

He didn't actually mention in the other thread if the grey knob is usefull or not.

Haven't tried as yet, will let you know when I've had a full play with the kit. Only recieved the Gitzo G1325 on Tuesday, so I didn't really play much with the head since I've had it.

On the M-20 it's about the size of 5-10c peice.
