Unfortunately the Internet, with all its convenience and immediacy, brings us this shit as well.

I recently had an image stolen and published by an online newspaper. To make matters worse, they had previously offered to "partner" with my blog, which I declined because I had all the downside and they had the upside.

When I called them on this piracy they did actually blame their webmaster.

As I saw quoted on another forum that has members who have ripped off my work "the Internet has made copyright obsolete - once it's on the net it's fair game."

WTF?

Interestingly enough I've found an image of mine sent to me by a friend who knows my work, on a travel brochure for a local caravan park, downloaded off of a website. Not that it bothers me to much but the courteous thing would have to been to ask me.

Incidentally hi all, my last login was November 2009!!!

Courteous? It would also have been the right thing to do.

They have stolen your work; you have a right to be paid.

FWIW, it often helps to publish low resolution images on the web, which can make the printing of them somewhat difficult.

Welcome back.
