Re: Esperanza Spalding Sues PhotographerI was talking to a guy last night who designs album art (as well as other art) for a well known Australian band and he has had his work stolen many times. He said it used to be difficult to stop the practice but is must easier now as the band's record company will pursue infringements on his behalf. Apparently many people cease the use of the art but others will pay up once they know they have been caught out.

I've got an idea....I'll steal one of your images and you sue me for 500K. When you win then we secretly split the money.....No, hang on a minute. That doesn't seem right? Let ne think about this. Regards

Re: Esperanza Spalding Sues PhotographerInteresting! Just today I had to fail a student because
he decided to copy and paste all his test answers from the Internet. His defence was that he typed the links; my argument was that he had demonstrated great skill in researching the material and an exceptioanal ability to copy and paste, but had not demonstrated an undertanding of the various questions for discussion. Now, the point is that using someone's else material is often seen as "sharing" or being clever and it is becoming a common attitude is that if it is available in the Internet, then it belongs to everybody.
